How to Brew Green Tea

This unique powdered leaf green tea is not an instant tea; instead it is made from whole Sencha Green Tea leaves that have been grounded into a powdered form. Since entire tea leaf is consumed, you can get more of the green tea’s healthy antioxidants.
    1. Bring water to a rolling boil.
    2. Pour the boiling water into a tea cup and teapot to warm them up before brewing the tea.
    3. Empty the teapot. You can use the hot water in the tea cup to brew your tea, or if you have hot water cooling pot called a Yuzamashi, use this to cool down the hot water. Normally, the first brew of high-grade Sencha should be brewed in slightly cooled hot water to bring out the sweetness of the tea. For Genmai-cha you can pour hot water directly into the teapot for brewing to enjoy the nice aroma and flavor of this tea.
    4. Add tea leaves into the empty teapot. Following are the amounts recommended:

  1. Pour small amount of tea into the cup repeatedly until the last drop.

When making a second steep, pour hot water directly into the teapot. You do not need to cool down the temperature again. The second brew steeping time is 10 seconds.

When preparing 2-3 cups of tea, simply double the amount of tea leaves. When you pour the tea into cups, pour a small amount evenly into each cup in several round until the last drop.
